Computer Team, Inc. recently added this system to all our deployed servers and workstations. We chose to go with the best in the industry, a product called Huntress. EDR (Endpoint detection and response) is a system that goes way beyond traditional antivirus programs. It starts with the following:
-
Huntress Persistent Footholds catches hackers hiding in plain sight on Windows and Mac devices while they plot their next attack, giving them a taste of their own medicine. -
Huntress
Malicious Process Behavior Detect & Stop Malware Identify and remediate malicious files, privilege escalations, viruses, lateral movement, and other suspicious hacker activity with Huntress Managed Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) powered 24/7 by our security researchers. -
Huntress Ransomware Canaries enable quicker ransomware detection and removal to reduce risk and maximize uptime. Like the old canary in the coal mine, our Ransomware Canaries enable faster detection of potential ransomware incidents. When deployed, small, lightweight files are placed on all protected endpoints. Suppose those files are modified or changed in any way. In that case, the Huntress Security team
opens an investigation to confirm whether those changes result from a ransomware infection or malicious encryption. -
Huntress Open Port Detection highlights external attack surfaces and exposes easy entry points to strengthen defensive perimeters and improve security posture. -
Huntress Security Operations Center Moves beyond AI and automation with a team of 24/7 human experts—your secret weapon in the fight against today’s hackers. Huntress employees analyze worldwide, so there are
always humans to verify any issues. If something needs immediate attention, they will call our tech team regardless of the time of day. -
Huntress
Managed Microsoft Defender: Reclaim existing investments with Managed Microsoft Defender (previously known as Managed Antivirus) and leverage Huntress to extend your front-end protection. Using this antivirus software with Huntress allows you to stop paying for separate antivirus software since it is included with all Windows operating systems.
Huntress
provides monthly and quarterly reports for tracking. Please use this link to see one of our more recent reports. You will see from this report that we had two issues that did not require immediate attention, but were warnings. Two users in our network had documents storing passwords that were named passwords, which a hacker would look for if they could get in. We updated the client and had them rename those files to something less obvious.

Computer Team Inc Monthly Summary 04-2025
-
Huntress analyzed 9,750,523 events for the month.
-
It generated 303 signals or events that may be issues.
-
They did human investigations on 23 of those events.
-
They found two issues that needed to be addressed, which were not
critical. Two users from next door had files named passwords on
their workstations, which is a bad idea.
