The SQL version is designed for medium-sized businesses and can accommodate hundreds of simultaneous users. The MSDE version has all of the same features as the SQL, but is designed for small businesses who desire the stability and speed of an SQL database, without incurring the expense of Microsoft’s SQL Server licenses. The MSDE version allows up to five users and has a two-gigabyte database limit, and provides a smooth upgrade path to make transition to the SQL version as easy as possible.
