Setting Up Outlook 2007 to Send and Receive Email

This article describes how to set up Outlook 2007 to send and receive email using your Computer Team Inc. account. The procedures to setup outlook 2000, 2003, and 2010 are similar. If you have any questions please contact a Computer Team Inc. support technician at (563)355-0426

How to Set Up Outlook 2007 to Send and Receive Email

You will need the server settings for your e-mail address.

Open Outlook, click Tools, then choose Account Settings.

Click the E-mail tab, and click New.

Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types, and click Next.

Select Internet E-mail, and click Next.

Enter the following information for E-mail Accounts:

  • Your Name: Enter the name want your e-mail to display when someone receives your message.
  • E-mail Address: Type your complete e-mail address, for example joedavis@yourdomain.com
  • Account Type: POP3 or IMAP
  • Incoming mail server: mail.computerteam.com or mail.yourdomain.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.computerteam.com or mail.your domain.com
  • User Name: Type your complete e-mail address. For example joedavis@yourdomain.com
  • Password: Type in your password for the e-mail address entered above, and check the Remember password box.

Click the Outgoing Server tab, select the box labeled My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, then choose Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

Click the Advanced tab.

  • If you are setting up a POP3 account: Under the setting for Incoming Server (POP3), the port number should be 110.
  • If you are setting up an IMAP account:  Under the setting for Incoming Server (POP3), the port number should be 143.
  • Under Outgoing Server (SMTP), the port number should be 25.

Note: Port 587 will work on any ISP network for the SMTP server.  If you have trouble sending email, try this.

10 Click OK.
11 Click Next.
